My Guitar

Walking up the street toward the sound of some fellas,
Jamming in a rocking Blues band.
Just about the time I got close enough to see ‘em,
Knew I’d hit the promised land.
Old and young, didn’t matter, wouldn’t know it,
Jamming on them guitars getting down.
Soundman on the board, the keyboard playing chords,
That drummer wasn’t messing around.
So I ran and grabbed my guitar,
I knew it wasn’t too far.
Man was I into it,
I knew I could do it now.
(Chorus)
You know I jammed with them with my guitar.
Oh yeah I rocked with them with my guitar.
I played the Blues with them with my guitar.
Sitting in my car, at the light, at Bass and Court,
Listening to the radio jam.
WHFR, blasting in my car,
No, I didn’t give a damn.
I didn’t know the secret in the music.
All I knew at first was just to use it.
But then Baby Ruth, man she told the truth.
Now I’m just so happy to jam.
Now my guitar is my lover.
My amp is now my cover.
They’ve already shown me,
That music is the key so now.
(Chorus)
That’s right, I’ll jam the Blues with my guitar.
I’ll Rock & Roll tonight with my guitar.
I’ll soothe your soul tonight with my guitar.
Like this.
Shake it up, rub it down, do your thang,
It don’t matter just as long as you do it.
No surprise, if you say, when I play,
That I just might be turning you on.
So hey, you there, I like it like that,
Shaking your soul, when I play my strat.
So baby,
(Chorus)
I’ll play the Blues for you with my guitar.
I’ll Rock & Roll tonight with my guitar.
I’ll soothe your soul tonight with my guitar.
I’ll take you home with me and my guitar.
